THE HIGHER LEVEL of care that
Kadlec Health System brings to the
region happens not only at the medical
center, it also happens throughout the
Tri-Cities at each Kadlec Clinic.
Now with 15 clinic sites and over
50 medical providers representing
14 specialties, the Kadlec Clinic network
continues to expand to meet the
medical care needs of the region. #is
continuum of care provides important
health care services that span every
stage of life from birth to seniors—all at
locations built specifically to be close to
home or work.
“#e vision of Kadlec Clinic,” said
Ken Lester, Kadlec Clinic president, “is
to provide centers of medical excellence
where our patients have access to
the highest level of care provided by
physicians who practice at the top of
their fields.
“We choose medical providers to be
a part of our system that we ourselves
would like to have care for our own
families,” he said.
Expanding specialties
Pulmonology is the most recent
specialty added to Kadlec Clinic
when Evan Schmitz, MD, opened his
practice in August. As a pulmonologist,
he specializes in the diagnosis and
treatment of lung diseases and
conditions. #ese can include cancer,
emphysema, asthma, bronchitis and
pneumonia.
“We continue to determine what
medical specialties are needed within
the region we serve, and we work to
meet those needs,” said Lester. “Adding
pulmonology is a good example.”
In addition, the system’s first
audiologist, Curtis Woolf, AuD,
has been added to Kadlec Clinic
Ear, Nose and #roat, and the first
aesthetician, Kelli Anderson, joined
Kadlec Clinic Plastic Surgery.
Expanding the coordination of care
#e multispecialty approach to
Kadlec Clinic provides patients with an
important continuity of care.
“For example, if we have a family
whose child is seeing one of our
pediatricians,” said Lester, “and that
pediatrician determines the child
needs to be seen by an ear, nose and
throat specialist, the referral and
even the appointment can be made
right at the pediatrician’s office. #e
specialist will also have access to all
the medical records of that child.
When the specialty care is finished,
the pediatrician will have access to a
complete record of care provided by the
other physician. #is makes it easy and
simple for the patient.”
Kadlec Clinic recently instituted
a new, state-of-the-art electronic
medical record (EMR) system to
help support the seamless process for
scheduling, registration and clinic records
transmission across all levels of Kadlec
Clinic. In November, the medical center
will also implement the same EMR
technology allowing critical information
to follow a patient from primary care
physician to specialist to the medical
center as needed.
