THANKS TO GENEROUS donors,
Kadlec Foundation was able to award
$37,000 in scholarships to area students
pursuing clinical health care and health
care supportive degrees for the 2011–
2012 school year. Selection is based on
financial need, academic performance and
other pertinent career-related ambitions.
KADLEC Regional Medical Center’s Wound Healing Center recently
received a Front Runner Award from the National Healing Corporation.
#e center was recognized for maximizing its resources to meet the
growing needs of the community.
National Healing Chief Operating Officer Jim Tyler announced the
honor saying, “#e winners of the Front Runner Award are leading
the charge as the nation prepares for the coming epidemic of chronic
wounds fueled by an aging population and dramatic increases in
diabetes, obesity and vascular disease. #rough outstanding educational
outreach, clinical excellence and operations based on best practices, they
are performing an important service to their community.”
KadlecWound Healing Center offers highly specialized wound care to
patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other
chronic wounds, which have not healed in 30 days or more. Advanced
treatments included hyperbaric oxygen therapy, negative pressure wound
therapy, bio-engineered skin substitutes, biological and biosynthetic
dressings, and growth factor therapies.

Foundation awards $37,000 in health care scholarships
Receiving the scholarships are

Kayla Clegg, Derick En’Wezoh,
Marissa Frank, Rebecca Gaulke,
Rocio Garcia, Megan Jones, Brittany
Kelly, Sarah Krebs, Brian Lloyd,
Mariela Macias, Laura Mayfield,
Blanca Mendoza, Derek Mitchell,
Bryan Payne, Anna Regalado, Tawnya
Simpson and Kassandra Spohr.
Brian Lloyd also received the
Rita Murphy Scholarship and
Rocio Garcia was also awarded the
June Corrado, RN, Nursing Scholarship.
Funds for these scholarships are made
possible by gifts from family and friends
in memory of both Rita and June.
High School Internship Award
recipients were Matthew Gadbois and
Caitlin Houck.#ese awards are selected
by the hospital advisor and Richland High
School advisor from among those students
participating in the high school internship
program and demonstrating exceptional
commitment to pursue a health care career.
In addition, Kadlec Auxiliary awards
two $2,000 scholarships to graduating
high school students who are Junior
Volunteers at the hospital. #is year’s
recipients were Erin Hegarty and
Janyn Mercado.
