Private patient rooms
A patient is best able to rest in their own
environment surrounded by family and friends.
Kadlec’s goal is to become a fully private-room
hospital, and we are well on our way.
Unlimited visiting hours
Kadlec offers open visiting hours 24 hours a day
to encourage family members and friends to visit
their loved ones. Research indicates that just the
presence of loved ones can make a difference in
how fast and well patients heal.
Healing time
Some of our units participate in an hour of quiet
healing each day. During this time, patients are
encouraged to rest and relax, supplemental
therapies are offered and they are not interrupted
by hospital staff.
Speaking your language
Translation services are available in more than
150 languages. Services for the hearing-impaired
can be set up in patient rooms, as can Braille
telephones.
Pastoral care and "e Chapel
Meeting a patient’s spiritual needs can be vital to
the healing process. Kadlec has chaplains available
to meet with patients and families 24 hours a day.
The Chapel is always open to those who seek
peaceful solitude.

Incoming mail
Keeping in touch is important. Friends and loved
ones can email patients through
www.kadlec.org
.
Email is printed and delivered to patients. Letters
and packages are delivered each day.
Aromatherapy
Patients may request aromatherapy to promote
relaxation.
Care Partners
Kadlec’s Care Partners program allows patients to
designate a family member or friend to act as his
or her Care Partner. Care Partners are considered
an integral part of the patient’s health care team.
They provide emotional support and assistance
with dressing changes and patient mobility, and
are involved in the discharge planning process.
Child Life Specialist
Being hospitalized can be a frightening experience
for anyone, but even more so for a child. Kadlec has
the community’s only Child Life Specialist, trained
in helping children, as well as parents and siblings,
through these dif#cult times.
Music therapy
The music therapy program continues to make
beautiful music at Kadlec and even offsite locations.
Our certi#ed music therapist visits patient rooms for
personalized sessions which can help reduce stress
and anxiety and even pain.
My mother had a week
long stay on the third !oor
last summer. She had just
been diagnosed with lung
cancer and was in a lot of
pain. With all the different
medication and tests
she could become quite
agitated.
I just wanted to say what
an exemplary staff you have
on that !oor. They were all
very patient. We are a pretty
loud and demanding family
when it comes to our mom
and your staff was very
gracious.
A special note to
Bill (Dluhosh, MT-BC, CMT,
Kadlec music therapist) the
music guy. Can we have
him? He sang my mother
to sleep with “Irish Eyes
Are Smiling” and “O Danny
Boy.” Every time he came
in, he had to put up with
our extended family of $ve
or more that requested
songs and then sang over
him as he played. It was
like a room of karaoke
for a good 20 minutes.
The music therapy is a
wonderful service to provide,
especially to someone like
my mother, whose entire
family grew up listening
and singing to every kind of
music.
Thank you Kadlec! And
Bill!
