Each month, Kadlec’s Hero of
the Month program honors
children between the ages
of 3 and 18 who have faced,
and overcome, difficult
circumstances.
Kadlec is one of numerous
hospitals participating in the
program, which is sponsored
by the Kids Wish Network. Our
most recent Hero is:

What’s happening at Kadlec
TRACKING DATA IS
an important
tool used in improving patient care.
Within Kadlec’s Intensive Care Unit
(ICU), one of the systems used in
data collection and analysis is called
APACHE (Acute Physiology, Age and
Chronic Health Evaluation system).
With APACHE Outcomes, Kadlec is able
to trend view each patient’s response
to therapy over time to support clinical
decision making. A report can then
be generated that compares actual
outcomes with expected outcomes
and recognizes opportunities for
performance improvement and cost
savings in the ICU.
In addition, the report reflects
how the Kadlec ICU is performing
compared to over 130 ICUs across
the country.
In the most recent reports, Kadlec’s
ICU was shown as a High Performance
ICU— a distinction it shares with only
one other hospital.
