Bob Rosselli is back enjoying many of the things he loves, including
walking, since his recent hip replacement performed at Kadlec.
JUST SIXWEEKS
after a total
hip replacement, Robert “Bob”
Rosselli was back to walking
his dog.
“It is truly amazing,”Bob
said. “I used a walker for two
weeks after surgery, then two
canes for two weeks, and at
six weeks post-surgery, I
was walking on my own.
All with very little pain. It’s
been really great.”
Bob’s surgery was
performed at Kadlec
Regional
Medical Center,
which this fall
earned the Joint
Commission’s
Certification for
Total Hip and Total
Knee Replacement.
The certification
is the result of a
rigorous on-site review by
the Joint Commission and
recognizes Kadlec’s ability to
provide the highest level of
specialized care for hip and
knee replacement patients,
including treatment and
rehabilitation. Kadlec is the
first hospital in southeastern
Washington, and the sixth
hospital in the state, to receive
this certification.
Bob knew some of
what to expect with a joint
replacement surgery; in
the summer of 2010, he
underwent double knee
replacement surgery.
“For five years, I had knee
pain and lived with it,” he said.
“I got to the point where I
was waddling back and forth.
Dr. (John) Staeheli suggested
knee replacement, and I asked
him if we could do both knees
at the same time,” said Bob.
“One replacement wouldn’t
solve the problem, so why not
do them both at once?”
Following that surgery,
Bob got the relief he was
looking for. So when it
was discovered he had
deterioration in his right hip,
and Dr. Staeheli recommended
a hip replacement, he didn’t
hesitate.
“Last time, I lived with pain
for five years,” he said. “I knew
I didn’t have to this time. The
results have been excellent.”
Focusing on
joint replacement care
Kadlec’s Joint Care Center
is dedicated to the care
of hip, knee and shoulder
replacement patients. The
continuum of care includes
a pre-operation class, skilled
and experienced orthopedic
surgeons, and post-surgery
care by a medical team
specially trained in the care of
joint replacement patients.
